Emmi Receives NCQA Prevalidation for PCMH 2014 Scoring
Using Emmi Makes it Easier for Practices Seeking Recognition as NCQA Patient-Centered Medical Home
Oct. 7, 2015 – Chicago – Emmi, provider of superior patient engagement solutions for healthcare provider and payer organizations, announced today its EmmiEngage® and EmmiPrevent® solutions, including chronic condition management, procedure preparation, shared decision making and wellness programs, are now able to help providers seeking patient-centered medical home (PCMH) status from the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA).
Emmi’s solutions have achieved PCMH prevalidation, which means practices using certain Emmi products can automatically achieve certain factors under NCQA PCMH standard 4, “Support Self-Care and Shared Decision-Making.” Practices using one of Emmi’s prevalidated products do not have to submit documentation for these factors, making it easier for practices to achieve NCQA PCMH recognition. Emmi is one of the first patient engagement providers to be prevalidated for the 2014 PCMH criteria by NCQA. In addition, Emmi’s solutions have received “practice support” designation for other factors, including some factors deemed “must-pass” for any practice seeking PCMH status. This supporting designation means Emmi’s two prevalidated solutions provide significant functionality that aligns with the requirements of the PCMH standards for a given factor.
“By providing software that helps physician practices build the patient-focused, coordinated care infrastructure expected of NCQA patient-centered medical homes, Emmi is helping practices be part of modern healthcare’s most important transformations,” said NCQA President Margaret E. O’Kane. “Medical homes are the way of the future, and Emmi is helping practices get there.”
PCMHs are transforming primary care practices by putting the focus on patients themselves. Everyone in the practice works as a team to coordinate care from other providers and community resources, maximizing efficiency and lowering costs. NCQA’s PCMH 2014 Prevalidation program is designed to help physician practices identify products that alleviate or make more efficient administrative aspects of meeting PCMH 2014 requirements.
Patients who use Emmi are better equipped to take active roles in their own health and better manage their own self-care. Emmi also enables shared decision making, a process in which a provider helps a patient understand a health decision and its consequences, then helps the patient apply their own goals, values and preferences in order to make the decision that’s best for that individual. Read more about barriers and solutions to implementing shared decision making at Emmi’s blog, “Engaging the Patient.”
“With PCMH, the goal for each patient is to deliver the right care at the right time,” said Emmi CEO Devin Gross. “This prevalidation by NCQA is a recognition of how we empower people to partner and participate in their care and help providers deliver scalable patient engagement solutions without increasing workload. We are so pleased that Emmi makes it easier for providers to achieve PCMH recognition, with respect to shared decision making and self-care.”
As a sponsor of NCQA’s PCMH Congress, taking place Oct. 9-11 in San Francisco, Emmi will be at booth #210 to discuss its prevalidation status.
EmmiEngage and EmmiPrevent are prevalidated by NCQA to receive automatic credit toward NCQA’s PCMH 2014 scoring. These solutions also received a supporting designation for nine factors in the PCMH 2014 Standards. Autocredit is transferrable to Emmi’s PCMH client practices seeking NCQA’s PCMH recognition. Emmi’s PCMH-eligible client practices must be actively utilizing the reviewed capabilities associated with Emmi’s PCMH prevalidated products in order to be eligible for transfer of awarded auto-credit.
